Far Cry 5 – Today in Gaming: May 26th 2017

Welcome!

Hello everybody and welcome to Today in Gaming for Friday May 26th 2017! Another Friday is upon us, finally. It’s time to start a weekend of gaming a relaxation. So without further ado let’s get this weekend started!

PlayStation Plus Free Games for June

PlayStation Turkey has seemed to leak the free games for June a little bit early. We still have about a week or so before these games are available but it’s still nice to see what they are going to be. As always these games will be available around the 4th and will be replacing the current free games. However, the only titles that were leaked were on the PS4 side.
The first game for free is the recently released “Killing Floor 2” which only came out last year. I’ve enjoyed this game and it’s a fun little mindless game to play. It’s essentially horde mode in which a team of zombie hunters must clear out an area of endless amounts of zombies, eventually leading to a boss battle. The second game is “Life is Strange”, dontnod’s hit “choose your own adventure game” that relies on a unique time travel mechanic for story telling. This is the perfect time to put the game out for free with the sequel recently announced.

Rising Storm for Free

Courteous of the Humble Store, have a copy of Rising Storm completely free. I’ve never personally played the game so I couldn’t say too much about it. It seems to be a pretty fun world war 2 shooter based in the Red Orchestra series. The version that is being given away is the Rising Storm: Game of the Year Edition and comes with everything extra that the title entails. Head on over to the Humble Store and jump on this deal quickly to grab your steam key. This deal ends tomorrow morning.

Far Cry 5

Oh yes, the moment comes in which you all have been waiting for. The biggest story of the day, Far Cry 5. Welcome to Hope County folks. This game looks to be amazing. I’ve always been a fan of these kinds of genres, crazy people taking over and turning reality on its head. Ah, it’s amazing. I also love the open world that comes with regular Far Cry games. But enough of that, let’s talk about the game.

Far Cry 5 takes place in Montana and you enter the city as a Sheriff’s debuty tasked with taking down a cult. Eden’s Gate is lead by madman Joseph Seed who believes himself to be “the father” and has taken over Hope County with his family, “The Seed”. Together the family has turned the county into a over religious region where you either follow the rules of the Divine of submit to death. As usual with Far Cry games, there is a resistance that appose the cult that the player must team up with.

Customized main protagonist. That’s right, you’re going to be able to make your own character to explore Montana. This most likely means you can play anything regardless of gender, race, etc. This is a first for the series and has me quite excited, I mean it’s fun to play as a set character but making your own brings so much more depth to the experience.

Co-Op, through the entire game! The past few Far Cry games have had multiplayer but it has never really been the best. It was very limiting and was rather short. However, this is now going to change with Far Cry 5. The entire game with be available to play in co-op, providing a new way to experience the game. I’m interested in seeing how this works out in the title.

There’s a whole bunch of other goodies that are coming along with the game. Players will be able to potentially enlist the help of animal companions. All types of vehicles are available in the title, from trucks and off road vehicles to even airplanes and semis. The game is set to come out on February 27th 2018. I must urge you to watch the trailer and some of the character highlights. I cannot wait for Far Cry 5.

Until Next Time…
