Welcome!

Hello everybody! I am back yet again with another part of my collection. Today is going to be a rather small one, but definitely not in quality. I sadly have not finished the game yet because so many other things came up, giving me absolutely no time for such a long game. However, I plan to eventually finish the entire Metal Gear series. The whole collection comes in a fantastic Diamond Dogs branded box with faux leather and opens up to reveal it’s contents. So without further ado let’s jump in.

The Game

The Phantom Pain is the eleventh and final installment in Kojima’s hit video game series Metal Gear. Developed by Kojima Productions and produced by Konami Digital Entertainment the game had an original world-wide release on September 1st, 2015. Following the events of Ground Zero, we follow our protagonist Big Boss as he travels from Afghanistan to Angola-Zaire in order to track down the men responsible for MSF’s destruction. Along with this collector’s edition comes a ton of dlc for both the game and metal gear online, ranging from special weapons to cardboard skins and other tiny perks.

This collector’s edition comes with a nice steelbook featuring great art on both sides. On one side we have a portrait of Big Boss and Kaz during the events around the time of “Ground Zeroes”. On the reverse side we have a portrait of both Big Boss and Ocelot during what looks to be the events of “Phantom Pain”.

The Double-sided Map

Nothing too much to say on this piece. It’s one of those standard paper maps of the game map that’s tossed in alongside the disk. This one is a double sided map that shows both regions from the game. One side we have the region of Angola-Zaire as well as a couple key points throughout the area. While on the reverse side we have the region of Afghanistan shown alongside yet more key point locations.

Like I’ve said before, I’m not a huge fan of maps like these. Game maps just don’t interest me too much.  The cool thing about these maps is that it looks very tactical. We can see almost every detail of the areas and it even has zoomed in shots of certain areas. It’s like hey here’s a laydown of the area you’re going to be infiltrating. Good luck!

The Bionic Arm ūüĎĆ

The highlight of this entire collection comes with this half scale replica of Snake’s bionic arm. There is so much detail in this replica, it’s truly amazing. We have paint chipping on the base of the arm giving it the feeling of being used, like wow this could have actually been Snake’s arm if not for the size. It also has various markings and stamps on it showing it’s “in development” look from the game. Near the base we have a stamp that reads “Diamond Dogs R&D Artificial Limbs Laboratory” as well as a few other markings telling what certain parts are used for. Going along with the details of the item itself, the joints in all the fingers are articulated, giving it a wide variety of options in which to display this piece.

The End

Well that’s all folks, thanks for giving it a read. I hope you enjoyed another small look at a part of my collection. Any Metal Gear fans out there? What did you think of the game? Let me know below. I’ll see you all again tomorrow for another collection corner, but until then have a wonderful day/night wherever you may be.
